Canyoneering in Badian, CebuLast January 3, 2016 my badi surprised me to go to an adventure that I've been wanting to try called "Canyoneering". Canyoneering has become known after the GMA 7 TV Show called "Biyahe ni Drew" featured it on their show. HOW TO GET THERE The usual meet-up when you're travelling to south is in South Bus Terminal, the first schedule for the bus to depart is 03:00 AM. We've arrived at the South Bus Terminal @ 05:30 AM since the travel hours going to Badian is roughly 3 to 4 hours max depending on how fast the bus go. We paid 147 pesos each for the bus fare. Just tell the conductor to drop you off at the tourism office of Badian. We've arrived at their tourism office at exactly 08:OO AM for the registration; note that we did not pay anything at this stage. The guide we booked last January 3, 2016 was a licensed guide named Noynoy. We contacted him through 0936 133 5001 and booked at a discounted price of 700 php per person. The fee only includes the guide fee and equipment rentals. From there on we rode a motorcycle going to the staring point of the Canyoneering, we paid 50 pesos for the fare. We're not surprised by the number of people who were excited to experience the thrill. There were dozens of people(some where in groups of 10). We donned our helmets and life vests. There were also shoes that can be borrowed(we recommend to use your own).. The person in charge would also lend you a dry bag to keep your items from getting wet. She would also place a buoy(an empty water bottle attached to a string) to your action cam, in case it will be lost in the water. Hey, it actually works! Before you start, they will ask you to register again. They will also tell you that you have to pay for the entrance(50 pesos each). You can pay the 700+50 php here or pay the guide later when you finish. And now were ready to go... Since there were only two of us, they grouped us with another pair of adventurers. The more the merrier. You have to walk for at least 5 minutes in order for you to arrived at the starting point. The first jump point is a relatively narrow canyon. Your guide will ask you where you will dare to jump; you will have a choice between a 10 feet drop, 15 feet and the max is 40 feet away from the blue abyss. We chose the 15 feet jump off. When you already enter the water all you gotta do is follow what your tour guide is doing and your good to go :). More jumping, trekking and sliding will follow. Halfway into your canyoneering, you will find a food stall where they offer you barbecue foods at an affordable prices, around 15 php. As we continue our adventure we found the most beautiful rock formation and I'm imagined myself that I'm in Palawan. There's a certain part of your adventure where you will trek for atleast 1 kilometer but I promise you, the view is amazing and you will be rewarded afterwards since you will see the 3rd falls of Kawasan. The water was so blue and cold that all you want to do is dive right in after the long walk. The second falls is just a short hike from the third. There you'll see the 50m jump. Scary, I know! But there were brave warriors who took the chance when we got there. Looking back, I wish I did. From here, we ended our adventure with the tour guide; we have been to the first falls in Kawasan many times before and we wanted to go back to the third falls instead. There were small restaurants in the second falls where we ordered lunch. Here's the menu: You can also rent rooms here at 1,500 php per night with free breakfast in the morning. After lunch, we went back to the third falls until it was time to go home. GOING HOME: We bathed and changed clothes in the showers of the first falls. You have to pay 10 php each to use it. Afterwards, we took a short walk towards the highway where we waited for a bus going to the city. It may take a while. Buses in Cebu generally don't have a fixed schedule. Also, mentally prepare yourself to stand for the whole 3-hour bus ride back to the city. Especially in rush hours. You can avoid this by going home earlier than 5 P.M. Tip:
